PUBLIC COMMENT SOUGHT The United States Army seeks Public Comment on a Proposed Plan for changing a remedy for groundwater contamination in Operable Unit 2 at the New Brighton/Arden Hills Superfund Site (TCAAP) Ramsey County, Minnesota The U.S. Army (Army), in conjunction with the USEPA and MPCA, recently completed a review of the remedy for groundwater contamination at Site A in Operable Unit 2 (OU2) at the Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant (TCAAP). The Army seeks the public's comments on the proposed change to the remedy. The USEPA, in cooperation with the MPCA, has authority for the final approval of the proposed change. The proposed change for the Site A shallow groundwater remedy is to utilize monitored natural attenuation in lieu of the groundwater extraction and disposal remedy components of the 1997 OU2 Record of Decision. Other components of the remedy will not be changed. The Technical Memorandum supporting this change, the Proposed Plan, and other site-related documents are available for review at the TCAAP Office, 4761 Hamline Avenue, Arden Hills, Minnesota, 55112, by appointment. Before making a final decision, the Army, USEPA, and MPCA will consider written comments on the proposed changes from January 9, 2017 through February 8, 2017. Written comments must be postmarked no later than February 8, 2017, and must be sent to Mr. Roger Walton, U.S. Army Environmental Command, Midwest Environmental Services and Support Division, 2450 Connell Road, Bldg 2264 (Rm 125-1), JBSA Ft Sam Houston, TX 78234-7664. The Army will respond to public comments that are received during the public comment period in a responsiveness summary attached to the OU2 Record of Decision amendment.
