Allina Health System d/b/a Unity Hospital will no longer participate in the Medicare program (Title XVIII of the Social Security Act) as a stand-alone hospital effective December 31, 2016. The agreement between Allina Health System d/b/a Unity Hospital and the Secretary of Health and Human Services will be terminated on December 31, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. in accordance with the provision of the Social Security Act and Unity Hospital will become a separate campus of Mercy Hospital. No payment will be made by the Medicare program under this agreement for covered services furnished to patients who are admitted to Unity Hospital after December 31, 2016. As of January 1, 2017, services at the Unity Hospital location will be provided by Mercy Hospital. Mercy Hospital does participate in the Medicare program. Therefore Medicare beneficiaries admitted to Mercy Hospital will continue to be entitled to have payment made on their behalf for covered services.
