BUFFER MAP IS AVAILABLE FOR RE...
Buffer Map is available for review and implementation The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has released the map of public waters and public ditches requiring permanent vegetative buffers or alternative water quality practices. The buffer map shows landowners and local governments where protective vegetative buffers of 16.5 feet or an average of 50 feet are required. The map is available at www.mndnr.gov/buffers. For those wanting to download the statewide data layer, it is available at https://gisdata.mn.gov/dataset/env-buffer-protection-mn. The project now turns to implementation, with these deadlines: Nov 1, 2017: 50-foot average width, 30-foot minimum width, buffers must be in place on lands adjacent to public waters and identified and mapped on the buffer map. Nov. 1, 2018: 16.5-foot minimum width buffers must be in place on lands adjacent to public ditches as identified and mapped on the buffer map. The Board of Water and Soil Resources, soil and water conservation districts, and local governments will work with landowners on any questions about buffers or alternative water quality practices.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) proposes to reissue a Resource Conservation and Recovery Act hazardous waste Storage Facility Permit to Safety-Kleen Systems Inc. Eagan, Minnesota. The permit would authorize the company to continue to store hazardous wastes. The MPCA is seeking public comments before reaching a final decision on reissuing the permit. The MPCA will accept written comments or a request for a public meeting or hearing until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2016. The draft permit and related documents are available for review from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays at the MPCA's St. Paul office at 520 Lafayette Road North. Wolfe Pointe Condominiums has applied for funding through the MCWD Cost Share Program for stormwater management improvements associated with their landscape upgrades. The proposed practices exceed regulatory requirements and will provide education and demonstration value. This public hearing is required because the construction elements of the project require that easements be acquired. The proposed amount of grant funding for the Wolfe Pointe Condominiums project is $16,368. The program is funded by a tax on real property throughout the MCWD that is allocated between Hennepin and Carver Counties on the basis of tax capacity. INVITATION TO BID The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, Leech Lake, Minnesota, will receive sealed bids for the "Canary Road Project" until 11:00 am ¬ August 26, 2016, at the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, 190 Sailstar Drive, Cass Lake, MN 56633, at which time all bids will be publicly opened, and read aloud. The project involves: Work includes but is not limited to, bituminous pavement, striping. All bids must be in accordance with bidding documents prepared by: Leech Lake Tribal Roads 190 Sailstar Drive Cass Lake, MN 56633 Bids shall be directed to Darold Madigan (Purchasing), securely sealed and endorsed upon the outside wrapper "BID FOR CANARY ROAD PROJECT".
