FEMA Emergency Food and Shelter Program funding for FY 2016, EFSP Phase 34, was approved by Congress at $120 million. The Phase 34 award to the local Hennepin County EFSP Board was announced at $401,877 which is up 7% from Phase 33. The National FEMA Board is continuing to place special emphasis on identification of agencies that provide assistance to the elderly, families with children, Native Americans, and veterans in addition to the mentally and physically challenged. Nonprofits applying for grants must have demonstrated capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs and provide services on a non-discriminatory basis. FEMA EFSP funds are not intended to be permanent or on-going funding sources for agencies. Upon award, the spending period is retroactive back to October 1, 2016 and ends September 30, 2017. The deadline to request a digital copy of the RPF from Mike Huck at 612-340-7671 or Mike.Huck@gtcuw.org, is 4 p.m. on Friday February 3, 2017. The deadline for submittal of your proposal is 4 p.m. on Wednesday February 8, 2017.
