Metropolitan Council Notice of Public Hearing Brooklyn Park and Champlin Regional Sewer Rehabilitation Project Draft Facility Plan Brooklyn Park Library 8500 W. Broadway Ave. Brooklyn Park, Minnesota Thursday, January 5, 2017 6:30 p.m. The Metropolitan Council will hold a public hearing to inform the public about and accept comments on its Draft Facility Plan for the Brooklyn Park and Champlin Regional Sewer Rehabilitation Project. The Draft Facility Plan for this project, prepared by the Metropolitan Council's Environmental Services Division (MCES), outlines alternatives studied and the resulting recommendations for rehabilitating these regional sanitary sewers that are located in the eastern portion of the City of Brooklyn Park and in the southeastern portion of the City of Champlin. The sewers convey wastewater to MCES's Metropolitan Wastewater Treatment Plant in St. Paul. MCES proposes rehabilitating 10.2 miles of regional sewers in five locations. These sewers are between 31 and 53 years old, and have corrosion-related damage. MCES recommends installing liners to create new sewer pipes inside the existing damaged pipes, and repairing manholes and related sewer structures as needed. The rehabilitation work would be done in several stages over the next 15-20 years. Planning and design of the first of five phases (southeastern Brooklyn Park) would begin in 2017. Copies of the Draft Facility Plan and a project area map for the Brooklyn Park and Champlin Regional Sewer Rehabilitation Project will be available for the public to review after Dec. 15, 2016, at: Brooklyn Park Library, 8500 W.
